Trustees, Tax and Investment
Presentation: Wednesday 27th February 2008
Venue: The Penthouse Suite, Darlington Football Club
Enormous tax changes will be introduced and implemented with effect from 6 April 2008. Those changes are going to impact on all taxpayers, including Trustees.
We believe that we need to appraise and update our Clients and fellow Trustees on a number of tax and trust related matters.
Investment issues have never been more problematic. We have a “roller-coaster” that is the Stock Market, slowing commercial and property markets, with the added threat of recession. Case Law tells us that nowadays if Beneficiaries feel even disappointed in trust investment performance, Trustees may find themselves, at best, criticised, or, at worst, defending their position in trust litigation.
To provide an overview of investment issues we have invited Pearson Jones plc, Independent Financial Advisers with offices in Leeds, York, Sheffield and more locally, Bishop Auckland (trading as Pace Financial Solutions) to explain a strategy for Trustee Review.
The mere process of Review will provide Trustees with re-assurance in relation to the discharge of their duties and enable them to show Beneficiaries (and their advisers) that they, the Trustees have discharged their duties honestly and diligently fully appreciating the burden placed on them.
This is a time sensitive issue and we have therefore arranged a series of presentations at the Darlington Football Club on Wednesday 27 February. Anticipating high demand for places we are at this stage planning two presentations.
