MEDIATION
Mediation can help separating couples consider their options
and work out arrangements for the future. Both partners
must be willing to take part in a series of meetings with
an experienced mediator in marriage and family problems.
Property
matters, financial issues and childcare considerations can
be discussed at these meetings and an amicable agreement
reached. This process can be much quicker than court proceedings
or negotiation by letter, and can reduce stress considerably.
Latimer
Hinks can offer you the services of a solicitor mediator,
provided we are not already acting for either you or your
partner. Otherwise we can refer you to another solicitor
mediator. Payment for mediation is made after each meeting,
on an hourly rate, which both partners can share equally
or in any proportion on which they agree.
You
may still wish to take independent legal advice and may
want any agreement reached confirmed in a Court Order or
other written document. This is beyond the role of a mediator
and a solicitor will be needed.
