Rachel qualified in 2003 in the South of England, following which she quickly specialised in property, accepting a position at a niche West End law firm where she stayed for 5 years. After a short period abroad, Rachel returned to the UK and was hired on a fixed term contract with the University of Southampton where she was able to broaden her knowledge within the areas of intellectual property, data transfer and data protection. Rachel moved to the North East in 2012 where she worked for both large and mid- tier regional firms, finally joining Latimer Hinks in 2019

Areas of practice:

With her broad experience in commercial property, Rachel deals with a diverse range of commercial property matters, including acting for both developers and landowners in connection with the acquisition and disposal of sites for development, providing corporate support with regard to the property elements pertaining to asset and share sales and purchases and acting for both Landlords and Tenants in respect of both new and renewal commercial leases.  Rachel has particular experience with conditional contracts, option agreements, overage provisions, section 106 agreements and telecommunications leases.

Recent matters:

  • Acting for a large car dealership in connection with their disposal of premises
  • Negotiating and concluding an option agreement on behalf of a landowner, in respect of land to be acquired for residential development, with overage provisions
  • Acting for a landlord in connection with the grant of a lease that will secure over £2,500,000 in rental income over the contractual term of the lease
  • Acting for a landowner in respect of a telecommunications lease
  • Negotiating and agreeing the form of section 106 agreement containing affordable housing provisions
